Desktop Integration and Support (DIS) is the public face of Information Technology Services (ITS), representing the other groups within ITS to our clients, and represents our College community to these groups. We strive to empower our clients by being proactive to their needs and reactive to their computing problems.
Our mission is to ensure that every member of the College community has personal access to the appropriate computing technology, the necessary software tools, and the proper understanding of these tools to be as productive as they can be.
DIS designs, coordinates, and participates in the delivery of computing support for all members of the college community. The DIS group consists of a staff of professionals, and numerous student workers. The DIS group supports users of the Apple Macintosh, Windows computing environment, the Digital Alpha VMS systems, web servers, off-campus online services, and the communications and networking sub-systems of the College.
DIS works closely with other members of the ITS team, i.e. Instructional and Emerging Technology, Media Services, Network Infrastructure and Systems, Enterprise Software and Web Services and the Computer Procurement Center. DIS also consults with and engages in cooperative projects with the Library and other members of the college community.
Consulting services and technical support are delivered via: management of public labs and computing clusters, phone, e-mail, walk-in, individual consulting, house calls, training classes, the college web site, departmental visits, printed documentation, and electronic newsletters.
Members of the DIS team must keep abreast of developments in computing and information technology and recommend and implement changes with the expressed goal of participating in the development of a rich, robust and usable information infrastructure.
