Professor Theumer is a German-born, Austrian national and U.S. resident since 1992. She received her Ph.D. in Hispanic Languages and Literature with an emphasis in Applied Linguistics from the University of California, Santa Barbara. Her research focuses on Latin American poetry and poetics, literary theory and second language acquisition. At the moment, she is exploring the paradigm of becoming in early German Romanticism and twentieth century Cuban poetry.
