Services NCAC Advisers Provide
NCAC Advisers will provide information on the college admissions process, including helping parents and students with scholarship and financial aid opportunities, college applications, essay writing, and letters of recommendation.
In addition to helping with the admissions process, the following are some specific activities our Advising Corps have done since entering high schools in August 2008:
- Created "Career Rooms" featuring 200+ up-to-date college booklets and brochures.
- Hosted financial aid and FAFSA completion workshops for parents.
- Organized, assisted, and spoke at college and career fairs.
- Arranged college visits for individuals and groups of students.
- Invited college representatives to visit school districts.
- Planned and taught resume and interview workshops.
- Taught a web-based college/career program to students and to other faculty members.
- Taught English classes how to write college application essays.
This year, our Advisers plan to meet individually with approximately 3,000 students and in groups with an additional 4,000 students.
