Professor Armstrong earned her BA in Spanish from Skidmore College and her Masters and Ph.D. in Spanish Linguistics from Georgetown University with minors in Theoretical Linguistics and Sociolinguistics. Professor Armstrong has published articles on teaching pedagogy and applied linguistics in The Foreign Language Annals, The Canadian Modern Language Journal, The AACE Journal and in various edited volumes. She has also written a Spanish textbook for false beginners entitled, De Nuevo. Professor Armstrong's current research involves aspects of fluency. accuracy, and complexity in foreign language writing.
