Melissa Hess, staff photographer for communications, covers the broad array of campus life, events and people at F&M College through photography.
Melissa graduated from Messiah College in 2005 with a Bachelor of Arts in Studio Art (photography concentration) & Spanish. After college she spent 4 years working as staff photographer for Mennonite Central Committee (MCC), a nonprofit organization that works in national and international relief, peace and development. During those 4 years she traveled to 26 different countries photographing the work of MCC for their publication "a Common Place". From 2009-2010 she volunteered in Nicaragua at a cultural center where she taught photography workshops and managed a scholarship/sponsorship program. Prior to beginning her position at F&M, she worked at Church World Service as an immigration counselor in the Citizenship & Integration Program. Along with her position at F&M, she also manages her own photography business, Melissa Engle Photography. She enjoys dance, jewelry making and being creative in her spare time.
