    Professional Biography

Professor Ragain's teaching and research interests focus on 20th and 21st century U.S. literature and culture, with a concentration on ethnic literatures and the aesthetics of social movements. He is currently working on a book project that examines how writers associated with ethnic nationalist movements from the 1960s to the present developed experimental aesthetic forms to represent a collective political subjectivity that navigates between identitarian and universalist politics. Articles from this project have appeared in the journals Criticism and MELUS.
