Franklin & Marshall held a ceremony on Saturday, Oct. 22, to dedicate the Rouse Sculpture Collection in the lobby of the Alumni Sports & Fitness Center. Emeritus Trustee Andrew M. Rouse ’49, a generous supporter of the F&M community for decades, donated his entire collection of 32 bronze athletic sculptures to the College this year. The sculptures represent a wide range of sports; the collection includes works titled “Discus Thrower,” “Rugby Players” and “Sprinter on an oval plinth,” among many others. Above, Mr. Rouse (front) views the sculptures with visitors prior to the ceremony.
Several of Franklin & Marshall’s Rouse Scholars joined Mr. Rouse at the dedication of the sculptures in the ASFC. A merit-based Rouse Scholarship is awarded to two students per class who have demonstrated exceptional leadership at F&M while achieving academic excellence, and covers the cost of tuition, books and other expenses.
