Professor of History and American Studies Louise Stevenson has been invited to contribute to the "272 Words" display at the Abraham Lincoln Presidential Library in Springfield, Ill. Among the contributors are Jimmy Carter, Sandra Day O'Connor, Julian Bond, and Steven Spielberg. The display commemorates the 150th anniversary on Nov. 19 of the Gettysburg Address, which was delivered in 272 words.
Associate Dean for International Programs Sue Mennicke received the IES Abroad Professional Development Award at the group's annual conference on Oct. 17. It is one of two national awards Chicago-based IES (The Institute for the International Education of Students) presents. Mennicke served on the institute's academic council, curriculum committee and other governance panels, and chaired a complex overseas program review.
