After seven years, a popular one-act play on American slavery and freedom is concluding its run.

Amanda Kemp, research associate in Africana studies and founder of Lancaster’s Theatre for Transformation, will present Show Me the Franklins! for the final times on Thursday, Jan. 26, and Saturday, Jan. 28, at the Ware Center (42 North Prince St.). Both shows begin at 7:30 p.m., and tickets are available online.

The play, which offers a new perspective on Benjamin Franklin's life as a slave owner and president of the abolitionist society, premiered at Franklin & Marshall College in 2004. It has featured at the Philadelphia Fringe Festival and toured as far west as California and as far east as Paris.

The play has received grants from the Pennsylvania Council on the Arts and the Pennsylvania Humanities Council.
