A group of 11 Franklin & Marshall students and several staff members traveled to Galveston, Texas, Jan. 7–15 to help rebuild five homes damaged by Hurricane Ike.

Here is a slideshow of the trip.

“Helping refurbish and rebuild houses that were destroyed from Hurricane Ike was a new and rewarding experience,” said Nyssa Schlem ’11. “Without seeing it first-hand I never would have fully understood the devastating impact the storm had.”

Franklin & Marshall College students formed The Catastrophic Relief Alliance in response to the devastation of Hurricane Katrina in 2005. CRA has led six trips to the Gulf region to help with reconstruction efforts. During this trip, CRA volunteers coordinated their work with the William Temple Episcopal Church in Galveston.

The Gulf Coast Alumni Chapter hosted the volunteers for dinner during the trip.
