Admitted students for Franklin & Marshall’s Class of 2016 and their families will visit campus on Friday, April 20, for A Closer Look, an annual event that showcases life at F&M for accepted students.
A Closer Look gives students an opportunity to define their college decision by experiencing life on campus while the spring semester is in full swing. The event comes in advance of the May 1 deadline for accepting the College's offer of admission. Students will meet faculty members, attend presentations on preparing for careers in business, law and health care, and learn about campus life from current F&M students. A complete schedule of events is available online.
One highlight of “A Closer Look” is the spring Research Fair, where visitors will have a chance to see a diverse and comprehensive collection of student research. The fair will take place in the Frey Atrium of Barshinger Life Sciences & Philosophy Building on Friday, April 20, from 12:30 p.m. to 4 p.m. More than 80 students will present their work in poster and oral sessions, showcasing their efforts to produce new knowledge during the 2011-2012 academic year at F&M.
The fair includes a wide range of research projects, including “The Jump-Diffusion Option Pricing Models” (Mengning Zhu ’12), “The Resiliency of Chronically Ill Children: A Father’s Perspective” (Katelyn Paradis ’12) and “There is More to Healing Than an M.D.: A Historical and Qualitative Guide to Careers in Healing” (Ishmael Buckner ’12).
In addition to two poster sessions, the research fair includes 11 oral presentations in Bonchek Lecture Hall. The complete schedule of oral presentations follows:
