Helpful links for transportation:
Our students have many modes of transportation at their fingertips: trains, planes and automobiles!
But one of the best ways to maneuver Lancaster city is on foot! Check the maps at the James Street Improvement District website to get a lay of the land. One beautiful way to traverse the city from campus is to follow College Avenue walking northward (away from Harrisburg Avenue), take a left onto West Chestnut Street (across from the hospital), and a right on North Prince Street. Enjoy the heart of Lancaster City!
City buses have two stops on campus! Various routes take our students downtown, to the mall, as well as to hundreds of other locations in the area. Check out all of the details at the Red Rose Transit Authority website.
And hooray for Amtrak which has a station just several blocks from campus. In fact, Lancaster's Amtrak station is the second busiest Amtrak station in Pennsylvania, after 30th Street Station in Philadelphia! Lancaster is on the Keystone Line. Schedule and price information can be found at the Amtrak website. But sometimes it's easier to speak with an agent (1-800-USA-RAIL) to get full schedule options. Philadelphia is about an hour's train ride and the Big Apple is typically less than three hours.
In addition to our break-time airport and train station shuttles run by our Auxiliary Services Office, our students also have access to "My Bus Home," an independent provider of comfortable, wi-fi enabled bus transportation between F&M and selected locations in Westchester County, NY, Connecticut and Massachusetts.
