I've heard many parents exclaim, "I can't believe the school year is almost over!" With the end of the spring semester in sight, whether your student is finishing the first year, graduating after an astonishingly quick four years on campus or somewhere in between, no one can deny the incredible pace at which this academic year seems to have flown by.
As we prepare to say farewell to our seniors, we are at the same time looking forward to greeting prospective members of the Class of 2018 during our "A Closer Look" event on Friday, April 11, as well as during "Beginnings," the orientation week that (fittingly) occurs immediately following Commencement. If you know high school students and their families who have heard good admission news from F&M, we hope you will advocate for the College as they make their final choices. Your word-of-mouth marketing goes a long way toward helping us achieve our enrollment goals.
All the best,

Commencement Weekend 2014
We have some important reminders for senior parents:
Fall 2014 Calendar
Here's early notice that the final exam period in December 2014 will be later than our students might expect due to classes starting after Labor Day in the fall. The exam period is scheduled for Dec. 17-21, 2014. Once the exam schedule for end-of-semester is posted (typically just before fall break), your student will know exactly when his or her winter break begins. Thanks for your help in setting realistic expectations of when they will be able to return home for vacation. Academic calendars through Spring 2015 are available here.
F&M's New Provost
Former Religious Studies Department Chair Joel Martin, Ph.D., will return to Lancaster this summer as F&M's new Provost and Dean of the Faculty. The Provost and Dean of the Faculty is the chief academic officer of the College and is responsible to the President and the Board of Trustees for the following areas of College life:
The Provost also serves as the Middle States Association liaison.
We all look forward to welcoming Dr. Martin back to F&M. You can read more about him here.
Proxy Access to Student Tuition Accounts
If your student has designated you a proxy for purposes of his or her tuition account, and you are having trouble accessing the information, your access may have expired. When students designate a proxy, they are required to enter a start date and a stop date for that access. If the stop date has passed, the proxy will no longer be able to view previously accessible items. We recommend that students use a stop date that is close to their anticipated graduation date, so that interruptions in access don't occur. Students are able to check the stop date they entered by using the proxy setup instructions, which can be found here. If you continue to have problems with access, contact F&M's Help Desk (717-358-4483 / firstname.lastname@example.org).
Financial Aid Application Deadline Approaching
For all U.S. citizen and non F-1 Visa students, F&M's deadline to apply for Academic Year 2014-2015 need-based financial aid is April 30, 2014.
The FAFSA, Profile, and supporting materials must be electronically date-stamped no later than April 30, 2014. F&M uses the College Board's IDOC service for collection of your supporting documentation; IDOC must receive this documentation by April 30, 2014. For more information, visit our website.
Homecoming & Family Weekend 2014: Oct. 24 - 26
It's not too early to plan for your visit to campus this fall for the College's biggest annual event, Homecoming & Family Weekend. You can start by making hotel reservations now, always remembering to inquire about a Franklin & Marshall discount. These are two good sources of information about local accommodations:
Senior Salute is an annual event designed to inform seniors of the opportunities and services that are available to them after graduation. Senior parents, we hope you will encourage your students to take advantage of Senior Salute April 14-18, 2014. During this time, seniors also can pick up their caps and gowns, make a gift/pledge to the Senior Campaign, buy diploma frames at a discounted price, purchase graduation announcements, win prizes and receive giveaways.
Mid-Year Investment Report
You may have received a report highlighting the College's fundraising successes during the first six months of FY2013-2014. To read the report online, please click here. For our students and our faculty, your gifts to the Franklin & Marshall Fund make great things possible. To so many parents who already have given, thank you.
If you have not yet given during this fiscal year, which ends on June 30, 2014, please read this compelling letter from John Rosenthal '82, chair of the Board of Trustees investment committee, to learn how The Franklin & Marshall Fund is vital to the College's continuing success. And please consider making a gift today.
