The semester is quickly winding down. The last day of classes is Thursday, April 26, the last final exams are on Saturday, May 5, and Commencement is on Saturday, May 12. Our students are working toward a strong academic finish while trying to enjoy the annual springtime diversions -- gorgeous weather, Spring Arts Weekend (April 20 -- 21) and the endless social, cultural, arts and athletic events on and off campus. Effective time management is everything at this time of year -- for all of us.
All the best,
Maura Condon Umble ‘83
Director of Parent Relations

As you know, our F&M Admission Officers have been busily reading over 5,000 applications during recent months, making difficult decisions among the many impressive students who applied to F&M.
During the month of April, our goal is to encourage a high percentage of students who have been admitted to F&M to take the next step and enroll by May 1. These students are the "cream of the crop" and most have been admitted to many other fine schools. They will send in their enrollment deposit to the college they believe will provide them with the best academic, athletic and social opportunities.
If you know any accepted students, we encourage you to help them recognize that F&M is the right choice. If you have the opportunity, please take a moment to suggest A Closer Look (on Friday, April 20) and to make the case for F&M.
Franklin & Marshall's College Library staff are ready and eager to help students in multiple ways as students work on their final papers, projects, reports, etc. Truly student-oriented, their Ask Us services are accessible in person, by email, chat, phone and text, and extended library hours begin the week of April 22.
This year, F&M is offering a shuttle to the Baltimore (BWI) and Philadelphia (PHL) airports at the end of the semester. The Office of Auxiliary Services will operate the shuttles Wednesday, May 2, through Saturday, May 5, at 1 p.m. each day.
Students are limited to 2 pieces of luggage on the shuttle van.
Prices will be the same as all break shuttles - $35 for PHL and BWI airports.
Students must reserve their place by April 25 via the End Of Year Shuttle Reservation Form.
Contact Nikki Broderick-Roby, auxiliary services office coordinator, with questions.
Each summer, the College partners with Groff’s Moving and Storage to meet the summer storage needs of our students. Flyers with details and prices were placed in students’ mailboxes last week. Students were also provided information about purchasing standardized packing cartons, which lowers the storage price. Questions should be directed to Stacey at Groff’s, 717-653-6151 or email@example.com.
The deadline to apply for need-based financial aid for the 2012-13 academic year for all U.S. citizen and non F-1 Visa students is April 30, 2012. The FAFSA, Profile, and supporting materials must be electronically date stamped no later than April 30. F&M is now utilizing the College Board’s IDOC service for collection of your supporting documentation which must be sent to IDOC by April 30. For more information, visit the F&M financial aid website.
Students may view their financial aid information via MyAidAward. Please note: the FAFSA is mandatory for anyone applying for a Federal Direct Parent PLUS Loan.
Nothing signifies the end of the academic calendar quite like the arrival of caps and gowns. To honor this occasion, the Office of Alumni and Parent Relations is sponsoring a Senior Salute event in the College Bookstore on April 17 (11 a.m.-2 p.m.), April 18 (9 a.m.-noon), and April 19 (2-5 p.m.). As students pick up their regalia, staff from Alumni and Parent Relations, Career Services, Admission and Annual Giving will be on hand to let seniors know about the great opportunities and services available to them after graduation. The staff of Oriflamme (F&M's yearbook) will be on hand for students who wish to buy their yearbooks.
At this point in the spring semester, most sophomores have declared or are in the process of declaring a major. The Sophomore Class Caucus, with support from various campus offices, has organized the inaugural Declaration Dinner on Friday, April 20, to celebrate this academic milestone. This event will be a formal dinner where sophomores will be seated with alumni and faculty of their major in the Alumni Sports & Fitness Center. This will be a great opportunity for students to make connections with alumni who graduated with the same major and to celebrate all of their achievements.
