Pre-Law Program

Although it's neither a major nor a minor, the Pre-law program at Franklin & Marshall enjoys a distinctive reputation in the percentage of graduates who ultimately go on to law school and into practice.

Even with the number of law school applicants up and the acceptance rates down, 93 percent of Franklin & Marshall students who apply to law school are admitted at schools such as Harvard, Georgetown, Duke, Fordham, George Washington, NYU, Notre Dame, Michigan, William and Mary, as well as many others. Why? Because Franklin & Marshall teaches you the same skills you will use in law school, as well as in your subsequent legal profession: analytical thinking, issue discernment, written and oral communication and reasoning.

Pre-law advisers at Franklin & Marshall will help you gain a competitive edge by sharing admission data from previous years class. They will also suggest volunteer and extracurricular activities that law schools favor, such as positions of responsibility in student governance organizations.

Your adviser can assist you in securing a volunteer position at numerous law-related businesses and organizations near campus. You can apply to the John Marshall Pre-Law Honor Society and participate in law-oriented functions and meet esteemed legal guests.

If you feel a career in law is right for you, your adviser will guide you in researching your options and counsel you on your best strategy.
