Internships for Credit

To apply for credit for an Internship for Credit (IFC), please download and complete an IFC Application.  Please follow the steps outlined below to ensure your application is complete.

IMPORTANT NOTE:

Be sure to give yourself ample time to complete an application. The Office of Student & Post-Graduate Development (OSPGD) strongly suggests allowing 1-2 weeks for the entire application process and to make sure that all documentation is complete at least several days before the deadline to allow time for review, approval, and submission to the Registrar.

Steps for Completing an IFC Application

  1. Complete and sign the Student Section.
  2. Ensure the Internship Field Supervisor completes and signs the Employer Section.  (The employer will also need to provide a job description, which includes the intern responsibilities).
  3. Identify a faculty sponsor to oversee your internship.  Develop a written Educational Plan in cooperation with your faculty sponsor and submit a copy with the application.  (A sample educational plan is available in the application materials below).
  4. Complete the Faculty Section with the required signatures of you, your Faculty Sponsor, your Faculty Sponsor’s Department Chairperson, and your Academic Adviser.
  5. Visit OSPGD, located at 619 College Avenue, to obtain the signatures acknowledging the application’s completion. These must be the last signatures you acquire.  Your application will not be signed without a copy of your Educational Plan and a job description from your employer.
  6. Submit your completed application to the Registrar's Office (for a Fall or Spring semester internship for credit) or the Business Office (for a Summer internship for credit) by the due date.  Please note:  You are responsible for ensuring that the Registrar's Office receives all of the required information.

Upon completion of your internship, the internship supervisor should complete the IFC Employer Evaluation Form (below).  This form must be returned to your faculty sponsor 2 weeks before the end of the semester.
