IST 335: Socio-Economic Development in SOUTH AFRICA - May 21-July 14, 2012

Important Dates

JANUARY 24: Info Session  for Socio-Economic Development in South Africa & Ecuador. Learn more about these community-based learning summer courses for credit.
Time and Location: 4:30 pm, Booth Ferris in College Center.

FEBRUARY 6:  Application deadline for both summer courses (above).


FEBRUARY 15:  Completed Intent to Enroll form, available from the Office of International programs and $1,500 deposit are due.

FEBRUARY 22: Next steps for Ecuador and South Africa summer courses meeting.
        This meeting will outline the next steps required to finalize your summer CBL course process including Travel Clinic requirements.
Time and Location: 4:30 pm, Booth Ferris in College Center.

MARCH 15: Deadline for Travel Clinic for F&M students. All students must complete a travel clinic two months in advance of the program's start date in order for inoculations and medications to be effective.

APRIL 9: Balance of payment due.

MAY 21-JUNE 1: Program training at F&M

JUNE 2-JULY 27: Field work in Ecuador takes place.

JUNE 2-JULY 13: Field work in South Africa takes place.

JULY 14: Return to U.S. from South Africa

JULY 28: Return to U.S. from Ecuador

Eligibility

Required:

  • Minimum cumulative GPA of 2.0
  • Currently enrolled as a full-time undergraduate

Preferred: (not required)

  • Coursework in Economics, Political Science or Business
  • Introductory level of Spanish (for IST 325 only)
