F&M S.L.A.M.
(Sports, Leadership, Academics, and Mentoring)
F&M S.L.A.M is a new after school enrichment program that uses sport as a tool to provide a safe and interactive learning environment for local Lancaster middle school students. Reynolds Middle School will recruit students to be a part of the program, which will run from 3pm – 5:30pm on Tuesdays and Thursdays. Participants will spend approximately one hour working on their homework and or planned workshops and the next hour playing a sport.
Mission:
To provide a high quality, after-school youth enrichment program that combines academic tutoring and mentoring with leadership training, sport, drama and dance instruction.
What will you be doing?
We want F&M students who are looking for a way to make a difference in a young person’s life. We need volunteers for the upcoming year that will work with Reynolds students on a one to one basis, providing them with homework help, tutoring, and mentoring. F&M volunteers will also be encouraged to create and facilitate interactive activities.
When will you be working?
-
Academic Volunteers are needed from 3:15 pm – 4:30 pm
-
Enrichment/Sports Volunteers from 4:15 pm – 5:30 pm
Where will you be working?
The great part about this program is that you are volunteering right on campus! Each Tuesday volunteers will meet with the academic coordinator in Booth Ferris (Steinman College Center) to briefly prepare for the arrival of the Reynolds students.
