I don't know much about volunteering in Lancaster. Where should I begin?

Stop by our office in Steinman College Center, second floor, room 208 (look for the blue banner by our door.) Call 717-291-4164, or email us at Tell us about your volunteer interest and we will try to match you to an opportunity that fits your schedule.

How can I let the interns know that I would like to volunteer?

Fill out the Volunteer Form. This information will let us know what type of opportunities you are interested in, your schedule, and your transportation options. From this information, they can quickly match you up to a volunteer program

I don't have a car, is this a problem?

No, there are many volunteering opportunities that are just a short walk from campus. In some instances a college van can be used.

I am interested in volunteering, but I am unable to commit to it on a regular basis.  Can I still help out when I am available?

Yes!  We only ask that you commit at least one hour per week of your time.  If you are not able to make a particular volunteer opportunity, just be sure to let your Ware intern coordinator know ahead of time!

Does the Ware Institute have volunteer opportunities outside of Lancaster?

Yes!  We plan alternative breaks that give students the opportunity to volunteer locally, nationally, and internationally in places like Louisiana, Texas, Ghana and Honduras. The Ware Institute has local paid summer internships and summer internships for credit in Ecuador and South Africa. These programs usually require an application process.

I am interested in interning with the Ware Institute.  How do I apply?

Open Ware Institute intern positions are announced in March for the following academic year. If you have questions about working with the Ware Institute please contact  Associate Director of the Ware Institute.
