Please contact me, , the Ware intern coordinating the Volunteer Income Tax Assistance (VITA) program if you are interested in training to becoming a VITA assistant for the 2011-2012 tax season. We partner with the United Way of Lancaster Co. and the Lancaster Money in Your Pocket Coalition.

JANUARY 19-APRIL 15:  VITA student volunteers will prepare tax returns for low income clients who make appointments through United Way LINK.

Call 211 on your cell phone or 717-291-5462 to schedule an appointment.

You can help bring thousands of dollars back to local families in Lancaster by volunteering a few hours of your week.

The Volunteer Income Tax Assistance (VITA) program is an IRS program designed to help low and moderate-income taxpayers complete their annual tax returns at no cost. Every year, beginning in December and continuing until mid-January, certified volunteers receive training from the IRS to help prepare basic tax returns.

If you are interested in learning more about the Franklin and Marshall VITA site, contact vita@fandm.edu.  Also, to learn more and to be updated about upcoming events, visit and join our Facebook group, Volunteer Income Tax Assistance (VITA) at F&M.

"After reading the The Diplomat article I just wanted to commend all of you for what you are doing.  There are so many people that are struggling in this economy and you are providing a much needed service during an uncertain time. You all deserve a pat on the back and a big hug for offering your time and talents.  We are lucky to have you here with us at F&M."
