Spring 2013 Fitness Classes

The department of Athletics and Recreation would like to announce their Spring Fitness Class Schedule.

Any questions regarding the classes should be directed to the class instructor.   Email addresses are provided with the class description.

Gentle Yoga

A relaxing Hatha yoga class with easy postures designed to increase flexibility, relieve muscle tension, and reduce stress. Includes breathing exercises, meditation, and guided relaxation. Good for people with injuries or limited flexibility and folks who just want to stretch and relax. Yoga mat required.

Instructor Jane Marie Clipman has been practicing yoga for 24 years and is certified through the Himalayan Institute.

When: Thursday, 5:00 – 6:00p.m.

Where: Woods Room, ASFC

Cost: $50 for 11 classes: February 7th – April 25th

Power Yoga

An all-levels Vinyasa yoga class with fast-paced sequences of challenging poses that increase strength, stamina, flexibility, and balance. A workout! No experience necessary. Yoga mat required.

Instructor Jane Marie Clipman has been practicing yoga for 24 years and is certified through the Himalayan Institute.

Time: Tuesdays 5:00 – 6:00p.m.

Where: Woods Room, ASFC

Cost: $50 for 11 classes: February 5th – April 23rd

Advanced Aerobic Conditioning Class

Instructors: F&M football Coaching Staff

Time/Dates: Wednesdays @ 6:30AM to 8AM.  Class begins February 5th and runs through April 24th 

Location: Mayser Gymnasium

*This is not a beginner class

Kickboxing

Kickboxing  is an non-contact, energy-packed class that provides cardio routines for total body toning. In this class, you jump, kick, and box your way into a healthier you. This kickboxing class is designed for all fitness levels and is structured with cueing and instruction to allow beginners as well as more advanced exercisers to follow the challenging combinations, burn fat, release stress & have fun! Resistance training, abdominal work and stretching are added to the end of the workout. 

What to bring: Please bring a large mat, or towel, water, and a small towel because you will sweat! 

Time: Wednesdays, 5:15 - 6:15 pm Beginning 2/6 and runs through 4/24

Zumba

ZUMBA is a latin-inspired, dance-fitness class that incorporates Latin/ International music and repetitive, easy-to-follow dance movements, which create a dynamic, exciting, and effective “fitness-party”!  This class format combines fast and slow rhythms that tone and sculpt the body in an aerobic/fitness fashion to achieve a unique blended balance of cardio and muscle-toning benefits.  This cardio-based dance movements are easy-to-follow steps that include body sculpting, targeting the whole body, the core, the abdominals, and, most importantly, your heart! This class is formatted for all fitness levels with instructor modifications, as needed, on more challenging movements. Come out and feel the dance, feel the music, and ZUMBA!

**Please wear comfortable clothing and sneakers that are low tread or traction (old sneakers or dance shoes are ideal).
