Judy Pehrson

Director of the Women's Center

Judy Pehrson, director of The Women's Center, has more than 30 years of experience in journalism, marketing, public relations and international education in the United States, China, New Zealand, Japan, Hong Kong and Taiwan. She has been active in the women's rights movement, beginning when she was a graduate student at the University of Michigan in Ann Arbor. Later, she worked to implement Pennsylvania's state Equal Rights Amendment as director of information and education for the Pennsylvania Commission for Women. Her biography is included in Feminists Who Changed America 1963-1975 by Barbara J. Love (University of Illinois Press: 2006). Pehrson has taught courses on women in the media at the University of Michigan, Point Park College and Lebanon Valley College. In 1996-97, she taught journalism at Nanjing University in China as a Fulbright Scholar.
She earned a master's degree in journalism and Asian Studies and a bachelor's degree in English and journalism from the University of Michigan.
