Women's Center Events
September:
Red Zone: Every fall, in conjunction with other college offices, The Women's Center and S.A.V.E sponsors an awareness campaign around the Red Zone. The Red Zone is the first six weeks of the fall term when freshman women are most in danger of being sexually assaulted.
October:
Week Without Violence, October 23-29: The Women's Center sponsored programming during the Week Without Violence. It is part of a nationwide effort to empower both men and women to unite against the violence in our communities. Programming elements included a lecture, the Clothesline and Shoe Projects, the film "Tough Guise", and Red and Black Day when students wore those colors to show support for stopping violence. Don McPherson, former NFL player and executive director of the Sports Leadership Institute at Adelphia University,visited Franklin & Marshall College Sunday, Oct. 23. McPherson presented a lecture, "Men and Campus Culture: Exploring the Significance of Masculinity and its Impact on Intercollegiate Athletics and Interpersonal Relations on Campus."
"Follow Your Dreams" Discussion, October 25: A discussion featuring author Colette Shaw and artist claire Giblin as guests.
November:
Lecture, November 7: Diana Dolev, Israeli feminist and peace activist, spoke to the Franklin and Marshall College community.
Pennsylvania Governor's Conference for Women, November 15: A delegation of 10 Franklin and Marshall College Members attended this event.
