Stratigraphic column for 23 m of lacustrine strata within the Rife Farm borehole core drilled near Thomasville, PA. Unit letters are referred to in the text. Lacustrine strata containing evidence of pedogenic alteration is noted with a dark triangle.


Thick limestone section overlying green siltstone from the Fundy Basin, Scots Bay formation, Nova Scotia, Canada. The dark areas are remains of tree trunks that were incorporated into lake sediments as water levels rose. Hammer on the far right for scale.
