Making the Most of Your Internship
10 Tips to Success:
- Set goals for yourself and a timeline in which to achieve them.
- Make an effort to go beyond your duties. (remember this internship experience could serve as a trial period for a full-time job opportunity).
- Build a portfolio of your work - track your acheivements for future use.

What to include in each section? 1) Kudos: positive emails/comments that you receive about your work 2) Samples of your work: projects, emails, excel sheets that you managed 3) Aha Moments: any new, creative ideas or lessons you learned.

- Dress appropriately.
- Seek mentors within the organization.
- Don't be afraid to ask if you do not know how to do something.
- Don’t be late or take long breaks.
- Don’t complain or neglect your responsibilities because you feel you are above them.
- Evaluate the experience. Meet with your supervisor and discuss your performance in the position. Be open to constructive criticism. Discuss your future career goals and evaluate if full-time employment is possible.
- Do not burn bridges. Stay connected, send an email to co-workers every few months.
