How Many Hours Per Week May A Student Work On Campus?

Use the following four-step checklist to determine a student employee's hours per week eligibility.  All four test points must ring true for each student in order to be in compliance with the policies of the campus-based student employment program.  Should any of the following tests produce a false result, please notify the Office of Financial Aid.

  1. During the fall and spring semester, non-break periods, a student may work up to 10 hours/week total, across all Federal Work Study (FWS) or College Work Award (WAD) jobs.
  2. During the fall and spring semester, non-break periods, a student may work up to 20 hours/week total, across all departmental stipend jobs as long as they do not have a simultaneous Federal Work Study (FWS) or College Work Award (WAD) jobs.
  3. During the fall and spring semester, non-break periods, a student who has a Federal Work Study (FWS) or College Work Award (WAD) and a simultaneous departmental stipend job(s) may work up to 20 hours/week total, across all jobs, with no more than 10 hours being in FWS or WAD at any point during the fall and spring semesters.
  4. During winter, spring, and summer breaks, a student may work up to 40 hours/week total, across all Federal Work Study (FWS), College Work Award (WAD), or stipend jobs.
