Current Activities

Club's current activities are the following:

Practice Rounds: Held on campus three times a week. The biggest commitment if you are interested in becoming a member, for most people. However, the club doesn't have a strict attendance policy, provided you make a reasonable effort to show up to some or most of the meetings.

Off-Campus Tournaments: The team participates in a number of intercollegiate competitions each semester. The tournaments are typically organized by other schools on the APDA-circuit, and the team usually goes to the ones in its geographic proximity. Occasionally, we will attend a tournament as far as Harvard and Yale though.

On-Campus Tournament: In the Fall of 2008 Debating Society organized its first Annual Inter-House Tournament for the incoming freshmen students interested in debate. The tournament was a big success and Society intends to make it a tradition at F&M, with the help from House System and the Administration.

Public Debates: Occasionally, Society organizes public debates open to the general public on topics of concern to the broader audience. Floor speeches and audience feedback are typical parts of the program.
