The 2009-2010 academic year will mark an important milestone for Franklin & Marshall College. This symposium will feature some of the college's most dynamic alumnae and engage faculty, staff, and attendees in a much anticipated energetic discussion on a variety of topics including healthcare reform, the progress of women in government and the Arts in troubled times.

October 24th is the International Day for Climate Action. On this day, people all over the world are coming together too visually and creatively display the number 350. Three hundred and fifty parts-per-million is the concentration of CO2 in the atmosphere that scientists consider to be a safe upper limit. Our visual representation of 350 windmills on Hartman Green is made possible by a broad coalition of F&M students. It represents the growing potential of wind power as a source of clean energy.

Join eminent Franklin & Marshall alumnae and women undergraduates as we celebrate the publication of two extraordinary student projects. Alma Mater's Daughters, featuring interviews with 29 significant alumnae, is a professional-quality film that shows how the inclusion of women undergraduates over the past 40 years has irrevocably, and positively, changed the culture of the college. An Institution Re-Founded: Coeducation at Franklin & Marshall College, is a Hackman-funded oral history project featuring interviews with female and male alumni, administrators and faculty about the college's transition to coeducation. Mix and mingle with the alumnae who were interviewed as well as student filmmakers and researchers Joanna Schein '11, Ashley Lippolis '09, and Katie Stryker '11. (Heather van der Grinten '09 and Alysse Vaccaro '11 are not able to attend.) Copies of both the film and book will be available for purchase.
