40th Anniversary Time Capsule: A Moment in Time
The Women's Center is coordinating the collection of items from F&M women's organizations and athletic teams to be placed in a time capsule that will be stored in the College archives. The capsule's contents will reflect women's accomplishments and activities in 2009. It will be opened again on the 50th, 75th and 100th anniversaries.Each participating group will bring no more than one representative item to the Women's Center on OCTOBER 9, and the capsule will be officially sealed in a ceremony on OCTOBER 14 at 4:30 p.m. in front of the Patricia E. Harris Center for Business, Government & Public. In case of rain, the ceremony will move to the Steinman Atrium.
What can be placed in the capsule?
- Video/audio recordings of women students, faculty, administrators or organizations
- Photographs
- Scrapbooks (limited to two inches thick)
- Publications
- Artwork
- News clippings (laminated)
- Event programs
- Posters
- Tee shirts, buttons or other memorabilia
- Personal testimonials
- Letters
- Syllabi from Women's Studies-focused courses from any department
- Other items (check with Samara Valentine '10 at svalenti@fandm.edu)
Please attach a tag or label for items that require an explanation of their significance. Photos or documents should, if possible, be on acid-free paper.
