Nicholas Montemarano's short stories have been published widely in magazines such as Esquire, Zoetrope, Tin House, The Southern Review, The Antioch Review, Agni, The Gettysburg Review, and Fence, and his essays have appeared in the Washington Post Magazine and DoubleTake. His fiction has been reprinted in The Pushcart Prize 2003 and cited as distinguished stories of the year in The Best American Short Stories for 2001, 2002, 2005, and 2006. He has received fellowships from the National Endowment for the Arts, the Pennsylvania Council on the Arts, The MacDowell Colony, Yaddo, the Edward F. Albee Foundation, and the Bread Loaf Writers' Conference.
