The F&M Jazz Ensemble is a standard "big band" with 5 saxes, 4 or 5 trumpets, 4 or 5 trombones and rhythm section.The ensemble rehearses Tuesday and Thursday nights from 9:15 to 10:45. The repertoire for the jazz ensemble varies greatly from semester to semester, but generally contains standards charts from the big band era and new works in a variety of styles including swing, ballads, rock, Latin, etc. Students may receive .5 credits for two semesters of participation.

Auditions
Jazz auditions or the fall semester will take place on Thursday, September 1. Students can sign up for specific times by visiting Meyran Hall, Room 107 during the first week of classes. Spring semester auditions are by appointment by contacting the director, Jerry Laboranti at . For the audition, performers are asked to prepare a jazz selection.
