Philharmonia

The F&M Philharmonia is the college's elite chamber orchestra and chamber wind ensemble. This ensemble is approximately 30 players is made up of primarily of F&M's finest instrumentalists who are also members of either the F&M Orchestra or Symphonic Wind Ensemble. The repertoire includes works for full chamber orchestra as well as works for just strings and just winds. Depending on the concert and repertoire, the ensemble is sometimes enhanced by area professionals, and outstanding high school students. The Philharmonia rehearses Monday and Wednesday nights from 8:40 to 10:10 p.m. Students may receive .5 credits for two semesters of participation.

Saturday, February 2, 8 pm, Super Bowl Cultural Warm-Up, Mahler, Symphony No. 7

Saturday, March 2, 8 pm, Celebrating the 100th anniversary of Stravinsky's Rite of Spring

Saturday, April 6, 8 pm, "It's About Time", Mendelssohn, Overture to Midsummer Night's Dream; Theofanidis, Muse; Stravinsky, Octet for Winds; Haydn, Symphony No. 101 ("The Clock")

Wednesday, April 24, 8 pm, Conductors Concert

Auditions

Members of the Philharmonia are also members of either the Orchestra or Symphonic Wind Ensemble. Based upon the audition for those ensembles, players are invited to join the Philharmonia.
