In general, the purpose of the Taller de Escritura is to teach writing by collaborating with the student as he or she revises compositions for advanced Spanish literature and culture courses.  We offer our services to students enrolled in SPA 261 as well as all SPA 300 and SPA 400 courses.

The primary focus of the Taller de Escritura is to analyze organization and polish style, clarity and effectiveness.  We also recognize the unique position of many of our students as a foreign language learners and heritage speakers seeking to improve grammar and grapple with cultural nuances as part of the writing process.

The student brings to the session a final draft of the composition.  The writing instructor asks for a short summary of the paper and what direction the student would like to take in the session.   The entire work is read aloud as both the student and writing instructor work to improve the writing ability of the student.
