About Us

Dance team is a group of students who are passionate about dancing and helping each other grow. We primarily practice Jazz style dance and technique two days a week. We perform at Homecoming, some basketball games, and other campus events like DipSync and Relay for Life. We choreogrpah all of our dances as a group allowing everyone who wants to creatively invest in our dances a chance to do so.

Senior Spotlights

Hey everyone! I'm Leah, a senior Biology major from New York City. Besides Dance Team, I was a part of the Dance Company, the Russian and Eastern European Club, and Phi Sigma Pi.

I started dancing 16 years ago, and throughout this time I have explored multiple dance styles including tap, jazz, ballet, hip hop, contemporary, and modern. Dancing with the team has allowed me to practice and learn techniques in a variety of dance styles, allowing me to become a stronger dancer.

From the beginning, the members of the Team have been an incredible support system. They took me in, even though I had a broken foot and could not audition, and they never once made me feel left out. I have grown so much with this team, not only as a dancer but as a person. Even on the nights where our practices would go until 11 pm, or the times where I would be stressed out of my mind, the team never failed to put a smile on my face.

They have shown me what true love and support looks like. I can honestly say from the bottom of my heart that they have made my years here at F&M worthwhile. They are my family, and I will always be grateful for them.

Following graduation, I will be moving to Atlanta, Georgia to teach middle school math and science with Teach for America! While I am sad that I will be leaving F&M and the friends I have made here, I am really excited to begin this new chapter of my life. I plan to continue dancing while in Atlanta, whether it be through teaching at a dance school or attending local classes.

Hi! I’m Reilly, and I’m a senior this year.  I’m an astrophysics major, and I’m from Knoxville, TN.  I’ve been dancing since I was four years old in the styles of modern, jazz, and a little bit of pom in high school.  As well as being on the dance team, I’ve been a part of the physics and astronomy club, performed with the dance company, and both performed and choreographed for the F&M Players.

Joining the F&M dance team was one of my best decisions in attending this college, as I’ve gained some truly incredible friends over these four years, and I am so grateful for the opportunities in serving as co-captains with some amazing people.  From trying to stay focused in late night rehearsals to performing at homecoming games, I have loved each and every moment with this team.  I love you guys and I’ll miss you next year.
