Alternative Fall Break Trips 2019

Trip Information 

Are you interested in exploring a historic American city while engaging in a unique service learning opportunity? If so consider participating in one of the Ware Institute's Alternative Fall Break trips! 

The three central components of both AFB trips will be:

  • education
  • service
  • reflection

Trip A: Faith & Food Insecurity with Interfaith Philadelphia

Participants in the Philadelphia AFB trip will work closely with the nonprofit organization Interfaith Philadelphia to explore a number of faith traditions while learning about the complex problem of food insecurity.

Trip B: Urban Poverty & Homelessness in Washington D.C. 

Participants in the D.C. AFB trip will work closely with the nonprofit organization the Steinbruck Center to gain a better understanding of the roots of homelessness and poverty in the region while also actively volunteering with local organizations.  




Deadlines, Dates, Important Information 

Trip Dates Saturday, October 5th-Tuesday, October 8th, 2019

Trip Cost:  $50/student

Includes ALL transportation, lodging, meals, and programmatic costs. Participants are responsible for extra expenses such as the purchase of personal souvenirs, snacks, etc.

Registration Deadline: Sunday, September 22  (Or as soon as all spots are filled.)  Each trip has eight spots for students. Additional students will be placed on a waitlist.
