(Deadline extended to March 11, 2022)
The Creativity, Innovation & Future of Work Initiative at F&M seeks student applicants to our third Creativity and Innovation Summer Research Program. This program is designed for students who want to put their education into action by tackling real-world problems that do not fall within the bounds of a single discipline. Informed by design thinking, students will work in multidisciplinary groups to develop approaches and possible solutions to regional problems.
This program is designed for first-years, sophomores, and juniors who want to put your education into action by tackling real-world problems that do not fall within the bounds of a single discipline. Informed by design thinking, you'll work in multidisciplinary groups to develop approaches and possible solutions to regional problems. Along the way, you will learn how to take risks and learn from failure, test and refine your ideas, engage in ethical human-centered research and design, and play.
We seek students in all academic disciplines who want to challenge themselves and make a positive impact in the world. This program will be demanding and rewarding. Past participants report that it has helped them build a bridge between their liberal arts education and their lives and careers after college. If this prospect sounds exciting to you, please apply.

Applications for the Program may be submitted via this online form. The application period ends on Friday, March 11, 2022 (note the extended deadline), at 4:30 p.m. Applicants will be notified via email of the results by Friday, March 26.
The program will start on May 23, 2022 and end on July 15, 2022. During that time, students will spend 7-8 hours per day engaged in learning, designing, and researching either with instructors or in small groups. Each student participant will receive a $4,000 stipend for their work. (This stipend will be taxed according to applicable local and federal law.) This program should be considered a full time job and is not compatible with summer courses and/or other internships/programs. Beyond the summer, students will have to present their work in teams at the Summer Experience Fair in Fall 2022.
The program will be a mix of in-person and virtual activities, depending on restrictions due to the pandemic. Regardless, all participants in the program must live in or near Lancaster and be able to participate in the program in person as needed.
