Quand on a 17 ans (Being 17) (2016, 116 min)

Film has English subtitles.

Being 17 explores the sexual awakening of gay youth in rural France during the Algerian war. Seventeen-year-old Damien lives alone with his mother. At school, he is frequently bullied by Thomas, a biracial boy who must commute several hours a day. When Damien’s mother meets Thomas, she invites him to move in with her family to be close to school. André Téchiné presents a subtle mix of naturalism and narrative developments worthy of the great depiction of the trials and triumphs of coming of age and coming out.
