La estrategia del caracol. Dir. Sergio Cabrera, Colombia, 1993.
A lot of people live in an ocupated house; after many years of quiet living, the owner of the house wants them out. They try whatever they can to avoid being put out, without sucess. But one of them thinks of a way of saving, at least, their dignity. The tenants are confronted with the authorities who are trying to evict everyone from the building. Then, the tenants decide to take a stand by locking doors and shooting at the policemen who try to carry out their orders.
A lawyer manages to delay eviction while an old theatrical stage manager comes up with a strategy: Using a series of pulleys and levers, the tenants dismantle the building piece by piece until only the facade remains.Cabrera has a good feeling for directing actors and manages to infuse this complex microcosm of Colombian society with dramatic life.
