F&M Employee and Student ID Cards
The Franklin & Marshall Identification Card is a multi-functional Campus ID card. It is the official student/faculty/professional staff access card for the regular academic year.
Students and employees are required to carry their cards at all times and to present them at the request of a College official or Public Safety officer.
The card serves as and allows:
- A photo ID card (which is required to be shown for various purposes on campus)
- Access to meal plans
- A library card
- Usage of the Alumni Sports and Fitness center
- Access to the secured student parking lot
- Entrance to many campus held events
- Bookstore purchases
- Off campus retail
- And much more!
A card may be used only by the person whose name appears on it. Lending or altering a card may subject the owner to disciplinary action. When a student withdraws from the College for any reason during a semester, the card must be left with the Department of Public Safety.
The card gives access to a declining balance account, Ben's Bucks, which consists of a prepaid amount that is reduced by the amount of each purchase. Ben's Bucks credit can be used in the College bookstore, at all on-campus dining areas as well as at several off-campus businesses. For more information on off campus businesses that participate, please check out www.fandmbensbucks.com. The amount of money deposited in an account is held by the Business Office in the student’s name. The card must be run through a computerized reader in order to pay for the purchased items. The amount of the purchase will be deducted at the point of sale and the account balance will be displayed or a receipt will be printed. Ben's Bucks carry over from semester to semester. When a student graduates, their Ben's Bucks balance is returned to them.
Reporting Lost, Stolen or Damaged ID Cards
Your F&M ID card should be treated with the same care as a credit card or ATM card. The magnetic strip on the back of your card should be protected from scratches or cuts that can interfere with the proper functioning of the card. Other obstructions, such as stickers or clips from ID holders, can also keep the card from functioning properly.
Loss of the card must be reported immediately to the Department of Public Safety (717.291.3939). There is a $15 charge for lost or stolen cards. There will be no charge to replace cards that are not working due to normal wear and tear.
