First-Year Application Checklist
You have a lot going on! So to make sure you haven't missed anything important, we've put together a list of everything you need to complete the application process.
☑ The College Application
- Submit your application using either the Common Application or the Coalition Application on Scoir.
☑ Early Decision Agreement Form
- Early decision candidates must also submit a signed Early Decision Agreement Form through the Common Application or Coalition Application on Scoir.
- If you've already submitted your ap and would like to change your application to Early Decision, please submit the Early Decision Agreement Form.
☑ Official Secondary School (High School) Transcript
- Official secondary school transcript(s) should be submitted through the Common Application or Coalition Application on Scoir, and should list your courses and grades, as well as senior year grades as soon as they become available.

☑ Counselor Letter of Recommendation
- Applicants must have their secondary school counselor submit a letter of recommendation on their behalf.
- The recommendation should be submitted electronically through your Common Application or Coalition Application on Scoir. For more information, visit the Recommenders and FERPA section of your application.
- If your counselor prefers to submit a paper copy of the transcript, please fax to (717) 358-4389 or mail to:

☑ High School Teacher Letter of Recommendation
- Applicants must have a high school teacher submit a letter of recommendation on their behalf.
- The recommendation should be submitted electronically through your Common Application or Coalition Application on Scoir. For more information, visit the Recommenders and FERPA section of your application.
- Recommendations should be from teachers in core academic subjects.

☑ Standardized Test Scores (SAT/ACT) or Standardized Test Option
- Applicants may choose to submit either standardized test score results or use the Standardized Test Option.
- Applicants using the Standardized Test Option need not submit standardized test scores.
- If you are submitting SAT/ACT scores, official scores can come directly from The College Board (SAT) or the American College Test (ACT). Test scores will also be considered if they are listed on the official high school transcript; sent directly by an applicant's secondary school counselor to the Office of Admission; or self-reported by the student on their Common/Coalition Application.
- Franklin & Marshall College "superscores" the SAT and ACT. For the ACT, we take the highest Math, Science, Reading and English score from any tests a student takes, even if on multiple dates, and average them together to recalculate a new ACT composite score.

☑ Application Fee
- The $60 application fee is paid electronically through the Common Application or Coalition Application on Scoir.
☑ Mid-Year Report
- Request that your secondary school counselor upload your Mid-Year Report through the Common Application or Coalition Application on Scoir.
- Check-in with your secondary school counselor to make sure this step is completed.
☑ Need-Based Financial Aid
- Click on this link: Financial Aid for more information on how to apply and deadline dates.
- Check "YES" to the question: "Do you intend to apply for need-based financial aid?" on the Common Application. The benefit of applying for financial aid is to be considered for all sources of federal, state and institutional funds. It does not mean you will be eligible for all; however it gives you the opportunity to see what types of aid - Grants and Scholarships, Federal Student Loans, and Federal Work-Study for which you might qualify.
- Complete the College Board CSS / Financial Aid PROFILE.

☑ International Student Information
- For students with fewer than three years of English language instruction, F&M requires any of the following language proficiency examinations: TOEFL, IELTS, PTE Academic, or Duolingo English Test. For students for whom English is a first language or who have been studying in an English-speaking curriculum for at least 3 years, or who study in an IB Diploma Programme, the requirement may be waived.
- If you believe you are eligible to have your English Language requirement waived, please email the Office of Admission at intladmissions@fandm.edu after you apply.
- SAT: Official scores should be sent to the College. Our CEEB code is 2261.
- ACT: The ACT will be accepted in lieu of the SAT I. Our code is 3574.
☑ Supplemental Materials (Optional)
- Applicants are encouraged to submit additional materials to supplement their application. Supplemental material might include a resume; music, dance or theatre performances; film or artwork.
- Students may send additional letters of recommendations from coaches, supervisors, or mentors who know them well. However, we ask that you be mindful of how many letters you send.
- Please upload these supplementary materials to the F&M Application Portal (under the Portfolio section). The portal will be available to you after we receive your application. You may submit paper copies of supplemental material by fax to 717-358-4389 or mail to:

☑ Official College Transcripts (Optional)
- Students who completed college-level course work while in high school should submit official college transcripts for all completed post-secondary coursework, even if completed at multiple institutions.
- Please ask your current institution to mail an official transcript to:

- F&M cannot accept your college transcript(s) from you; it must be mailed directly by the institution.
- Electronic transcripts can be addressed and sent directly the Office of Admission at admission@fandm.edu.
REMEMBER: It is important to Double-Check Your Application & Financial Aid Status!
- If you are applying for F&M's need-based financial aid, completing the financial aid process is just as important as completing the application itself. Missing financial aid documents can delay the release of your decision and/or adversely affect the decision outcome.
- Use F&M's online tools to verify that your application is fully complete and ready for review.
- Visit the F&M Application Portal to confirm that all application materials have been successfully received.
- If applying for aid, visit the F&M Application Portal to confirm that all financial aid requirements have been successfully received.
