☑  Standardized Test Scores (SAT/ACT) or Standardized Test Option
  • Applicants may choose to submit either standardized test score results or use the Standardized Test Option
  • If you are submitting SAT/ACT scores, official results must come directly from The College Board (SAT) or the American College Test (ACT). Test scores will also be received if listed on the official high school transcript.
  • Franklin & Marshall College "superscores" the SAT and ACT.  With the implementation of the New SAT in March 2016, F&M will continue its policy of superscoring the SAT, taking the highest critical reading score and the math score earned.  However, please note the College will not superscore between the old and new SAT formats (For more about F&M's policies regarding the New SAT, click HERE). For the ACT, we take the highest Math, Science, Reading and English score from any tests a student takes, even if on multiple dates, and average them together to recalculate a new ACT composite score.
  • F&M SAT code number: 2261

    F&M ACT code number: 3574

  • Applicants using the Standardized Test Option must submit two writing samples from junior or senior year coursework. Submissions should include teachers’ comments, grades, and a description of the assignment. Lab reports, presentations, or short-answer responses are not recommended.
  • Submit your writing samples in electronic format (PDF or GoogleDoc) to Your Regional Dean or upload them through the F&M Application Portal under the "Upload Materials" section. Paper materials can be faxed to 717-358-4389 or mailed to:

REMEMBER: It is important to Double-Check Your Application & Financial Aid Status!
  • If you are applying for F&M's need-based financial aid, completing the financial aid process is just as important as completing the application itself.  To receive a full and timely application review, you are required to submit all financial aid documents along with your application materials. Missing financial aid documents can delay the release of your decision and/or adversely affect the decision outcome.
  • Use F&M's online tools to verify that your application is fully complete and ready for review.
  • Visit the F&M Application Portal to confirm that all application materials have been successfully received.
  • If applying for aid, visit the F&M Application Portal to confirm that all financial aid requirements have been successfully received.
  • When in doubt, feel free to inquire about your status by emailing the F&M Office of Admission at admission@fandm.edu or calling the Office of Admission at (877) 678-9111.
