Cameron Wesson joined F&M as Provost and Dean of Faculty in August 2019. Prior to joining F&M, Cam served as Interim Dean (2018-2019), Associate Dean for Undergraduate Programs (2014-2018), and was the Lucy G. Moses Distinguished Professor of Sociology and Anthropology at Lehigh University (2011-2019). Prior to Lehigh, Cam was associate professor and chair of the Department of Anthropology at the University of Vermont (2006-2011), and was previously associate professor and director of graduate studies at the University of Illinois at Chicago (1999-2006).

Cam is an anthropological archaeologist with scholarly interests in Native American architecture and community planning, non-capitalist political economies, remote sensing and archaeometry. Cam is the author or co-editor of three books. His most recent volume is Households and Hegemony, which examines Native American responses to European colonization in the Deep South. His most recent work addresses Bronze Age communities in the Scottish Outer Hebrides and early human migrations in southwestern Europe.

Cam earned his Bachelor of Arts degree in anthropology and his Bachelor of Science in architecture and environmental studies from Auburn University. He received both his Master of Arts and Ph.D. from the University of Illinois.
