F&M offers domestic first-year students four exciting pre-orientation (Pre-O!) programs for those interested in the outdoors, sustainability, civic engagement and musical arts.

These programs bring students to campus a few days early and provide an opportunity to connect with peers around a common interest.

All international first-year students participate in a concurrent early arrival program conducted by the Office of International programs.

The First-Year Outdoor Orientation Trip (FOOT) is a pre-orientation program for students who are interested in becoming leaders in sustainability, environmental education, and those who have a love for the outdoors. It is a four-day, three-night backpacking trip on a section of the Appalachian Trail through Pennsylvania’s beautiful, rolling hills.
