About the Project

Franklin & Marshall College was awarded the Pennsylvania Liquor Control Board Grant for Reducing Underage Drinking and Dangerous Drinking for funding for July 1, 2020, through June 30, 2022.

Because of the high incidence of sexual violence in alcohol-related settings, F&M Intervenes seeks to increase safety in campus nightlife by teaching affect bystander intervention skills to safely mitigate potentially violent situations before they happen. Through educational campaigns and campus wide training, F&M Intervenes aims to provide helpful bystander intervention information campus-wide.  This project works with all people involved in campus nightlife, including parties with F&M as well as local bars and restaurants often frequented by F&M students.  To become a facilitator, read more info about the training below, or fill out this form!

Bringing in the Bystander Facilitation Training

Bringing in the Bystander® (BITB) is an evidence-based bystander intervention program. Instead of focusing on the roles of perpetrator and victim, the interactive BITB curriculum uses a community responsibility approach. It teaches bystanders how to safely intervene during instances where sexual violence, relationship violence, or stalking may be at risk of occurring. F&M plans to offer BITB training in 2021, that is intended to provide student leaders with the skills and experiences needed to effectively give the BITB training sessions to relevant student groups/organizations. Facilitators that receive this training are expected to be comfortable with the material and able to deliver a minimum of one (1) training session to their given group/organization.

For more information on BITB training, or if you are interested in receiving the training,  please contact:
