F&M Intervenes

Because of the high incidence of sexual violence in alcohol-related settings, F&M Intervenes seeks to increase safety in campus nightlife by teaching bystander intervention skills to safely prevent violent situations before they happen. Click on the link above to request a training for your group or organization. For questions reach out to kwanner@fandm.edu

More about the Training

F&M Intervenes uses Bringing in the Bystander® (BITB), which is an evidence-based bystander intervention program. Instead of focusing on the roles of perpetrator and victim, the interactive BITB curriculum uses a community responsibility approach. It teaches bystanders how to safely intervene during instances where sexual violence, relationship violence, or stalking may be at risk of occurring.

The training is 2 hours and can be done in one or two sessions. The facilitators are students and staff from F&M who have been trained in the program.  We offer campus wide trainings every semester as well as individualized trainings for groups and organizations.

Major: Public Health Biology

Hi, my name is Hoi (she/her) and I'm from Englewood Cliffs, NJ. I am a senior majoring in public health biology at F&M. Being a Violence Prevention Student Coordinator has taught me lot about effective communication in speaking about sexual assault and violence awareness. Through facilitating bystander training, I teach how to be a proactive bystander and strategies on how to effectively prevent violence and assault. Throughout my years in college, I have been a middle/high school mentor through Squash Aces, public health researcher of lead poisoning in spices, soil and in homes in Lancaster City, and currently vice president of the senior class. When I am not doing work, I love to go on hikes, listen to music, watch sunrises/sunsets and stargaze.
