Name: Ruoyu Cao

Major: Anthropology and Psychology

College House: Ware College House

What town do you call home? Jinan, Shandong, China

Activities at F&M:

Research assistant for the psychology department.

What did you enjoy most about your time at the College?

I enjoyed connecting with people closely and deeply, both with students and professors. Here, I met people who are now my best friends and professors who actually care about students.

Why did you choose to attend F&M?

I always wanted to go to a small school because it would be easier to connect to the people surrounding you. Also, F&M has over 100 study abroad programs worldwide. I got to go to Europe last summer and took two classes in Sweden and Denmark with a summer travel grant offered by the school.

What brief advice would you give to students considering attending F&M?

Be prepared for changes! Your plan (majors/minors, jobs, etc.) before entering college will likely change dramatically. I did not even think of studying anthropology before my first year here. Unknown changes might sound scary, but they also lead you toward success!

What are your plans for after graduation?

Grad school! I will continue to study archaeology in the U.K. starting this October (Ruoyu was accepted into both Oxford University and University College London).
