Name: Mary Sisler

Major: History

College House: Brooks College House

What town do you call home? Skillman, N.J.

What activities do you participate in at F&M?

I am an active member of Kappa Delta Sorority. I am also very involved with the Music Department, having taken for-credit voice lessons since my first year at F&M. Earlier this semester, I had the special opportunity to perform a senior recital, which featured music I have studied over the past four years. As a history major, I am very involved with that department, as well. I am a member of the History Club and previously served as social media chair. Moreover, I was recently named this year’s Landis Prize recipient, an honor awarded for the top history paper written in the preceding calendar year.

What did you enjoy most about your time at the College?

All of my favorite memories at F&M revolve around the incredible people I have met here. I have remained best friends with my first-year roommate and our nextdoor neighbor, and they have been by my side through all the ups and downs of the last four years. In them, as well as in my sorority sisters and other friends I have made all along the way, I know I have found friends for life. One of the things I will miss the most about F&M is sitting on Hartman Green with all my friends on a beautiful, sunny day!

Why did you choose to attend F&M?

As soon as I stepped foot on campus, I knew it was the place for me. Immediately, I could tell that F&M would push me to grow as a person and as a student — and I was right! There is something so unique about F&M’s approach to learning and I could not be more grateful to have had the opportunity to study here for the past four years.

What brief advice would you give to students considering attending F&M?

This is a place full of opportunities. At F&M, you are always presented with the chance to say ‘yes’ to something you never thought you could do. With the support of the institution, incredible faculty, and staff behind you, it is so easy to learn about yourself and grow into the person you wish to become.

What are your plans for after graduation?

After graduation, I am staying in Lancaster. I will be working downtown as a paralegal at Cipriani & Werner, PC. I am extremely grateful for this new opportunity and am excited to stay in and further explore our amazing city.
