Weather permitting, the ceremony is held on Hartman Green in the center of campus. Should we have inclement weather, the ceremony will take place in the Alumni Sports & Fitness Center (ASFC). Doors will open at 8:30 am. Updated information can be found on the day of the ceremony by checking the College website or by calling 717-358-3848.
Do we need tickets for the Ceremony?
No, tickets are not required, and there is no limit to the number of seats available for families for the ceremony even if it is held inside, but we do recommend that you arrive early to find your seats.
Where do I park the day of the Ceremony?
There are multiple parking lots available during the weekend. Signage will be visible along Harrisburg Avenue and West Liberty Street, and we will also be using remote parking on the North Campus, with shuttle service to campus. Appropriate signage will indicate these options. For more detailed information, please download the parking map.
To access the North Campus parking areas and avoid traffic on Harrisburg Avenue, we encourage you to take PA72/Manheim Pike to the Fruitville Pike Intersection, take a right onto Fruitville Pike/Prince Street, travel a few blocks then turn right onto West Liberty Street. You can also google directions using 313 West Liberty Street, Lancaster PA 17603 as a reference point.
Is there special parking and seating for handicapped guests?
Yes, there is a convenient drop-off location, and special parking and seating for handicapped guests. If you or a guest requires special accommodations, please contact Carole D’Ettorre at firstname.lastname@example.org or at (717) 358-5916. She can assist in arranging for special accommodations. In order to accommodate you, please have all requests in by April 27th.
What is the “Commencement Honorary Degree Recipients Panel Discussion?
This is an opportunity to join President Daniel R. Porterfield and the Honorary Degree Recipients as they discuss their various careers and the paths that led them there.
All graduates, their families and friends, and all members of the Franklin & Marshall community are invited to attend. It will take place on Friday, May 11 at 3:15 p.m. in Barshinger Center for the Musical Arts.
Can we stay overnight on campus?
The College is making space available in a residence hall for parents and guests. Rooms are available Friday & Saturday, May 11 & 12. Check in will be held Friday in the New College House Living Room from 12:00 noon until 4 p.m. and check out by noon on Sunday, May 13. If you will arrive after 4:00 p.m. on Friday, please notify Lori Foust at email@example.com so that your key packet can be taken to the Office of Public Safety, off Race Avenue, for pick up. Room rates are $75 for double occupancy and $55 for single occupancy. Bed linens are provided. You may wish to bring your own pillow. Towels and shower supplies are not provided.

While parents and guests often enjoy this opportunity to be “in residence,” please understand that residence halls do not offer private and personal accommodations. For those uncomfortable with a group living environment, we recommend making off-campus arrangements.
How can I locate a list of local overnight accommodations and restaurants?
A list of local restaurants and overnight accommodations is available at our Dining and Staying in Lancaster web page. If making reservations for lunch following the ceremony, we recommend making your reservation for 1:30 pm and later, so that the graduates and families can enjoy the post commencement reception.
What should I do about lost and found items?
Lost and found items will be held at the Information Desk in the Steinman College Center.
How and when can we order graduation announcements?
Is there an F&M diploma display frame that we can purchase as a gift for our graduate?
College partners with Diploma Display, an outside vendor, from whom you can purchase diploma display frames. Diploma frames are available for purchase at the Franklin & Marshall Bookstore, or on the Bookstore website, www.fandm.bncollege.com
How and when does my student order his/her cap and gown?
Caps and gowns must be pre-ordered at www.collegegrad.herffjones.com from February 18, 2018 to March 2, 2018. The Bookstore will send notice to seniors to begin ordering and also many reminders. Payment of $56.98 is due when the caps and gowns arrive in mid-April. Students will be notified when the caps and gowns are available for pick up at the Bookstore. If you do not pre-order, there will be caps and gowns available for purchase at the Bookstore through May 12, 2018.
