Meeting the College's Priorities

In line with the academic mission and strategic priorities of the College, the Office of Communications is committed to projects that strongly position Franklin & Marshall in meeting the following objectives:

  • Showcasing the research and scholarship of our faculty among broad audiences
  • Attracting and recruiting extraordinary student talent
  • Demonstrating to wide audiences the ways in which F&M fuels knowledge, discovery and artistic creation
  • Conveying the College's support of learning during and after college
  • Supporting efforts to increase F&M's resources
  • Engaging external partners — including alumni, parents, foundations, education change-makers and education advocates — in the work of the College

We work with offices across campus to plan and executes strategic marketing and public relations programming that includes reputation and brand management, internal and external communications, social media and multimedia engagement, and media relations.

What We Do

News and Publications Services

Our writers and designers produce F&M News to share the academic, scholarly and robust campus life of F&M, and also produce 500 electronic and print publications annually to promote events, recruit students, engage alumni, parents, and friends of the College, and steward relationships with donors.

Media Relations Services

The Media Relations staff develops strategies to facilitate media coverage of the College, including F&M's academics and faculty research, as well as institutional initiatives and campus life. Among services offered are media training, news release distribution and media logistics at major events.

Web and Multimedia Services

Members of the multimedia team oversee the design and content for the top levels of the College's website, provides design and direction for other electronic communications, and manage the production of videos that support outreach to external audiences.

Advancement Communication Services

In partnership with the Office of College Advancement, our office assists the College in engaging its alumni, parents and friends, inspiring service, generating financial support for our students, faculty and the outstanding work on which they collaborate, and raising and maintaining F&M's profile as a leading national liberal arts college.

Dedicated staff manages F&M's primary social media pages and provides guidance for academic and administrative staff in their use of social media in their professional capacity for the College.
