Thanks to generous funding from the National Science Foundation the Particle Analysis Laboratory offers Earth and Environment students and faculty execeptional opportunities to study the size distribution of particles and other characteristics of sediments and soils.
The Micromeritics Sedigraph analyzes particle sizes ranging from 300 to 0.1 micrometers.
A Frantz Isodynamic Magnetic Separator is available to isolate particles based on magnetic properties.
A Quantachrome Pentapycnometer can be used to accurately measures the volume of solids.
The laboratory also includes a seed identification station and a large format IEC centrifuge.
