Blakemore Freeman Fellowship* for seniors or alumni interested in studying one full year of advanced Asian language study in East or Southeast Asia. Deadline: December 30.
Boren Scholarship* for first-years, sophomores, juniors or seniors interested in studying abroad in regions critical to US interests and underrepresented in study abroad. Campus contact: Dean Sue Mennicke.
Congress-Bundestag Youth Exchange for Young Professionals* for first-years, sophomores, juniors, seniors, and alumni to spend one year in Germany studying and then working. Although knowledge of German is preferred, it is not necessary. Campus contact: Prof. Meagan Tripp, German department.
Critical Language Scholarship Program (CLS)* for first-years, sophomores, juniors, seniors or alumni currently enrolled in a graduate program who need to develop language and cultural skills in less-commonly taught languages. Deadline: November 16. Campus contact: Prof. Bond.
Freeman Asia* for first-years, sophomores, or juniors with at least one term remaining upon returning from the program, demonstrated financial need, and limited prior experience in East and Southeast Asia, pursuing summer language study abroad. Minimum GPA 2.8. Application opens early February and closes on March 14.
Gilman* for first-years, sophomores, juniors, or seniors receiving a Pell Grant pursuing study abroad, especially outside Western Europe. Campus contact: Dean Sue Mennicke.
TUSA: Taiwan U.S. Alliance Summer Scholarship* for first-years, sophomores, juniors, or seniors, who are not of Chinese or Taiwanese descent, to study Chinese language and culture in Taiwan during eight weeks of the summer. at one of the country's premier universities. Minimum 3.0 GPA is required. No prior knowledge of Chinese needed. Deadlines: February 15 (early) and March 31 (regular).
