Franklin & Marshall College  has established recognition guidelines that have been developed for Greek-letter organizations due to their complex and unique nature. The Expansion Procedures for Greek-letter organizations allows Franklin & Marshall College to carefully manage the growth of its fraternity & sorority community and help to ensure a healthy, safe, and thriving fraternity & sorority community. Franklin & Marshall recognizes that the expansion of Greek-letter organizations involves several parties:  1.) The inter/national fraternity or sorority  2.) Governing Councils  3.) the College  4.) Faculty Council  5.) Alumni  and in some cases, 6.) a student interest group.

The expansion process, whenever possible, will take into consideration the interests of all parties. It should be noted, however, that the College reserves the right to deny recognition to any group that expresses interest.

The College's expansion/extension policy/procedure for inter/national fraternities and sororities is administered by Office of Fraternity and Sorority Life (OFSL) in conjunction with the Dean of the College's Office.
